On 10 September, Gearbox Software and 2K released Version 1.10 for Borderlands 4, alongside the scheduled launch of two major DLC packs. “Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort” is now available, set on the tropical island of Providence. The expansion features a rescue mission for FL4K’s skag, Mr. Chew, and introduces the new playable Vault Hunter, Loveless. A former Anshin hacker turned assassin, Loveless possesses a digital-biological fusion that allows her digital virus, Wyrm, to “digistruct into a physical form” for combat assistance. Simultaneously, “Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows” has launched, focusing on the Siren class Amara and providing new missions, bosses, and legendary loot. Version 1.10 also implemented system-wide changes, including a 10-level increase to the maximum level cap and various Vault Hunter balancing adjustments. To coincide with these releases, a free-to-play weekend is being hosted for players on PlayStation 5 via PlayStation Plus, Xbox Series X/S via Xbox Game Pass, and PC via Steam. The content release has triggered a major resurgence in player engagement. Following a period of declining numbers, the concurrent player count on Steam quadrupled, reaching peaks of over 26,000 users. This surge is attributed to the popularity of the new character, a 50% discount during an anniversary sale, and the free-to-play weekend.
