Bose has expanded its QuietComfort headphone lineup with the release of the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Generation). This new model serves as a more affordable option compared to the high-end Ultra series, featuring modernized pill-shaped ear cups, immersive audio, and up to 24 hours of battery life. Following this release, Bose has offered discounts on its premium tier through its official eBay store, providing certified refurbished QuietComfort Ultra (Gen 1) headphones for under $200. These refurbished units, including the Diamond 60th Anniversary Edition, include an extended two-year warranty. Bose is now introducing connectivity upgrades to rolling out firmware version 10.12.12 for the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) via firmware update version 10.12.12. to introduce significant connectivity and audio upgrades. Currently in a beta phase, the update enables support for Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast technology, which allows for audio broadcasting to an unlimited number of compatible receiving devices in public venues like theaters or stadiums. The update also implements the LC3 codec for higher-quality streaming, streaming and enhances USB-C audio performance for voice calls and gaming synchronization, performance, specifically improving the balance between game audio and voice chat for users on compatible PCs. While the update brings 5.3 5.1 spatial audio support with head tracking to compatible certain Android devices via the Bose app. app, these new Bluetooth features are currently limited to compatible Android and Windows devices and are not available for iPhone users.
