Bosnia and Herzegovina border customs expansion
Overview
The Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of Bosnia and Herzegovina has moved to expand and modernize its border operations following a period of political deadlock. After the departure of an expert member who had blocked progress due to disputes over VAT revenue distribution, the UIO Governing Board adopted new regulations to establish customs services at several key border crossings, including Gradiška Novi Most – Gornji Varoš and Rača 2 – Sremska Rača 2.
These regulations also transitioned several crossings between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia from local to international passenger road traffic. To support these operational changes and address infrastructure issues, the UIO has launched public procurement tenders. These include the purchase of technical equipment, such as computers and monitors, and the procurement of office and sanitary containers to upgrade facilities at various border points.
