The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been convening sessions to address national security, migration, and border management. Initial discussions focused on reports regarding the state of migration and the implementation of integrated border management strategies. This included a draft agreement with Croatia to establish border procedures for specific railway crossings within the West Balkans - East Mediterranean transport corridor. Subsequent legislative efforts expanded to include the development of a migration and asylum strategy for 2026–2030 and the establishment of a working group to prepare a Schengen action plan. The Council also moved to address financial security through amendments to laws concerning the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, alongside a proposed cooperation agreement with Serbia regarding human trafficking. Recent developments show the Council continuing to prioritize the Schengen action plan and anti-money laundering amendments. In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), security data from the first nine months of 2026 indicates rising crime rates, including a 3.41 percent increase in criminal offenses, a 20.35 percent rise in public order violations, and a 10 percent increase in attacks on authorized officials. In response to these trends, police directors from various cantonal ministries met in Bihać to discuss improving coordination, information exchange, and security measures, including enhanced protection for children in digital environments.
