The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team continues to show progress in the UEFA Nations League B, maintaining a strong record under manager Sergej Barbarez. Following an initial undefeated streak, the team secured a 4-2 victory against Romania in Bucharest and a 1-0 win over Poland in Zenica, with Ivan Bašić scoring the decisive penalty. These results have contributed to a rise in FIFA rankings from 61st to 57th, positioning the squad to potentially secure a second-pot seeding for the EURO 2028 qualifying draw. The squad is undergoing a period of transition. Captain Edin Džeko has retired from international football, playing his final match in Zenica against Sweden in early October. Barbarez has integrated several new players, including debutants Salko Hamzić, Zinedin Smajlović, Ajdin Hasić, and Luka Đurić. Hamzić, a goalkeeper who previously played for Austria's youth teams, saw his market value rise from €400,000 to approximately €1 million following his call-up. Beyond team standings, the squad's success has translated into increased individual market values. Tarik Muharemović remains the most valuable player at 40 million euros, while Amar Dedić saw a 50 percent increase to 30 million euros. For the upcoming November Nations League fixtures against Sweden and Romania, Barbarez has announced a 26-player squad. This selection includes 17-year-old striker Matej Deket from FK Borac Banja Luka, who received his first senior call-up. Deket, recognized by The Guardian as one of the “60 most talented young footballers in the world,” has previously set records as one of the youngest scorers in the BiH Premier League and the UEFA Conference League. His inclusion follows interest from the Serbian Football Association and Red Star Belgrade. Other notable inclusions are Kerim Alajbegović, who recently placed seventh in the Kopa Trophy rankings, and returning player Dženis Burnić.
