Political tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina have intensified following remarks by Defense Minister Zukan Helez, who suggested the international community withdraw its signature from the Dayton Peace Agreement and referred to Republika Srpska as a ‘genocidal para-state entity.’ Ambassador Aleksandar Vranjes has condemned these statements, characterizing them statements as an ‘open call for war.’ Vranjes expressed concern over the lack of response from European officials, emphasizing that Serbia and Republika Srpska remain committed to the constitutional foundation of Annex 4 of the Dayton Agreement. Milorad Dodik, leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), has warned that the country faces ‘quiet dying’ unless it returns to the original Dayton Agreement settings. Dodik criticized the political climate in Sarajevo, expressed distrust in the Hague tribunal, and has vowed to respond with a ‘political blow,’ stating blow’ and declared he would will no longer voluntarily travel to Sarajevo, which he described as a place that ‘assaults with inhumanity.’ Adding He has also called for the complete unification of pro-Serb political representatives in response to calls for ‘Bosnian unity’ from Presidency member Željko Komšić. Komšić has criticized the domestic friction, current political landscape, suggesting the ‘Trojka’ coalition was designed to undermine the concept of a unified state. Meanwhile, Bakir Izetbegović, president Izetbegović of the SDA, SDA has accused the ruling ‘Trojka’ coalition of economic mismanagement. He mismanagement, specifically cited citing uncontrolled borrowing and the decline of major industrial systems, noting such as the Zenica steelworks. He noted that European financial institutions, including the EIB and EBRD, have suspended funding for the Corridor Vc project due to management issues. In a separate development, SNSD candidate Savo Minić claimed that responsible diplomacy is securing support from three major world powers for Republika Srpska.
