Football clubs have recently secured new defensive reinforcements through the signing of Bosnian international players. In July, Kispest-Honvéd FC announced the signing of 30-year-old Bosnian-Austrian centre-back Osman Hadzic on a 1+1-year contract. Hadzic joined from the Croatian side Slaven Belupo and brings experience from clubs such as Austria Wien and FC Zürich. In August, Hajduk Split signed 28-year-old Bosnian international center-back Dennis Hadžikadunić as a free agent. Hadžikadunić joined the Croatian club following the expiration of his contract with the Russian side Rostov. Born in Malmö, the defender has earned 33 senior caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and was part of their recent World Cup squad. Former national team coach Faruk Hadžibegić described him as a defender of “European profile with strong character and leadership qualities.” His arrival Hajduk Split has officially secured Hadžikadunić on a contract lasting until the summer of 2028. The signing is intended viewed as a strategic move by manager Gonzalo Garcia to provide defensive depth for Hajduk strengthen the defense ahead of their the club’s Conference League play-off match against Raków. Hadžikadunić brings experience from various European clubs, including Malmö FF, Mallorca, Hamburger SV, and Sampdoria.
