Following the promotional campaign for Brad Pitt’s survival thriller ‘Heart of the Beast,’ the film has begun receiving strong critical acclaim ahead of its wide theatrical release on 25 September 2026. Critics have identified the emotional bond between Pitt’s character, James Belmont, and his German Shepherd, Odin, as a central strength. While some reviewers noted the use of heavy CGI and familiar survival tropes, high ratings suggest the project may be the most well-received work of director David Ayer’s career. During the film’s premiere at the 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival, Pitt discussed the film’s themes of connection and loyalty. He also shared personal reflections, stating he feels “more seasoned, inside and out” and more focused on his values. Pitt made public appearances with his partner, Inés de Ramón, at the festival and later in Madrid. A brief viral moment occurred when Pitt stated, “I don’t remember her,” in response to a question regarding Spanish media personality Makoke; Makoke later clarified that any past connection was a brief romance from thirty years ago. Following its release, ‘Heart of the Beast’ has achieved international box office success. After earning $30.1 million overseas in its opening weekend—led by France and the United Kingdom—the film has shown further momentum in India. In the Indian market, the film collected Rs 4.25 crore over its first three days, demonstrating steady growth with an 80 percent revenue jump on its second day, suggesting positive word of mouth. In the U.S., the film earned approximately $20 million during its opening weekend. Analysts suggest Pitt’s international star power may support strong long-term performance despite a modest initial start.
