The production of the film Brahmastra 2 is facing significant challenges following reports that Jio Studios has withdrawn from the project. Director Ayan Mukerji, via Starlight Pictures Private Limited, is reportedly searching for a new financing partner after other major production houses, including Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films, declined to participate. The sequel is envisioned as a large-scale production with an estimated budget of approximately Rs 550 crore, with filming tentatively planned for April 2027. Regarding the cast, representatives for Deepika Padukone have officially denied rumors that she will appear in the sequel, clarifying that reports of her involvement are untrue despite her role in the first film. A spokesperson for Padukone stated, “All recent reports of Deepika Padukone being a part of Brahmastra 2 or associated with the project in any capacity are untrue.” While her participation has been ruled out, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are expected to reprise their lead roles, and actress Aneet Padda has reportedly been approached for a significant role.
