Reports regarding the 2026 Brazilian elections highlight various patterns in campaign financing. At the national level, entrepreneur Carlos Seabra Suarez, known as the ‘Rei do Gás’, has emerged as the largest individual donor, contributing R$ 5.7 million to the national directorates of six political parties. In the São Paulo Senate race, donor profiles for leading candidates show significant diversity. For instance, Guilherme Derrite has received substantial funding from real estate registry officials, while Marina Silva has secured contributions from entrepreneurs and the financial sector. Other candidates, such as André do Prado, have received donations from employees at the São Paulo Legislative Assembly. Regional trends are also emerging in other states. In Santa Catarina, Alex Murad, president of Beto Carrero World, has become a leading donor with R$ 450,000 in contributions. He has surpassed businessman Luciano Hang, who has donated approximately R$ 450,000 to various candidates across Santa Catarina, Paraná, Tocantins, and the Distrito Federal, primarily focusing on legislative roles. Other localized financial activity includes R$ 3.88 million declared by state and federal deputy candidates in Gravataí, and R$ 11.6 million raised by city councilors in Goiânia, largely through party funds. Additionally, in Mato Grosso, candidate Gilberto Figueiredo has pledged to allocate R$ 10 million in parliamentary amendments toward autism support programs during his first term if elected. Newer reports indicate environmental concerns regarding candidate funding. Greenpeace Brasil has reported that 137 candidates from 21 parties have environmental fines from IBAMA, yet at least 25 of these individuals have accessed over R$ 253 million in rural credit between 2013 and 2026. Furthermore, in Rondônia, candidate Cirone Deiró has directed R$ 10 million in amendments to rural associations to support milk production, while political parties in Rio Grande do Sul are investing up to R$ 17.2 million for legislative seats.
