In July 2026, Brazil hosted two major national-level sporting events. The Surf Brazil Pro returned to Itamambuca beach in Ubatuba from 18 to 26 July, forming the third stop on the 2026 national surfing circuit organized by the Confederação Brasileira de Surf (CBSurf). Over 200 male and female surfers, including local leader Weslley Dantas, competed for a R$ 500,000 prize pool. Later in the month, the third edition of Brazil’s ParaskateTour took place on 25-26 July in São Paulo, featuring up to 30 adaptive skateboarders. In August, Ubatuba hosted the third edition of FWS 2026, a free weekend event featuring skateboarding, BMX, and live music. The competition included Jam Sessions, Best Trick contests, and a skateboarding championship at the Ubatuba Skate Park, highlighted by a Super Mini Ramp installation. Sports Secretary Saulo Souza noted the event aims to encourage sports practice and support local athletes and artists. Following these events, the 2026 Ubatuba Pro Surf municipal circuit officially commenced on 21 August at Canto do Baguari in Praia Grande. Organized by the Ubatuba Surf Association (AUS), the season opener brought together approximately 200 competitors across various age groups. groups, ranging from the Petit category (under 10) to the Highlander category (60+). Cleiton Félix, president of the AUS, stated that the high participation level demonstrates the strength of the local surfing community. This stage marks the start of a seasonal calendar that includes upcoming competitions in Itamambuca in October and Praia Vermelha do Centro in November.
