Overview

Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) is finalizing new regulations to govern the magistral manipulation of cannabidiol (CBD) preparations. The agency has classified this regulatory work as a priority to address issues stemming from previous rules that excluded compounding pharmacies from working with cannabis-derived products.

By allowing pharmacies to compound CBD isolate with a minimum purity of 98%, the forthcoming norm aims to reduce legal uncertainty, improve patient access, and decrease the reliance on judicial interventions to secure supplies.
