In July 2026 Brazilian municipalities launched a wave of cultural and sport initiatives to boost civic engagement. Maricá’s Festival Cultura de Direitos combined music, capoeira, photography and graffiti, while the Institute Maratona Cultural opened a portal for proposals to the 2027 Florianópolis festival, widening curatorial input. The SRun Maringá and Corrida Verde in Florianópolis offered 5‑km to 15‑km runs, drawing thousands of participants and promoting family‑friendly tourism and socio‑environmental awareness. On 26 July, about 2,500 runners took part in Maringá’s event, with kit distribution through local partners and a free Corrida Kids race for children aged 2–13; the series continued in Joinville in August. Later announcements added the Samba Brasil festival in Aracaju (26 Sept) featuring national samba and pagode acts, and the Fluir Festival in Pirenópolis (10‑11 Oct) headlined by Gloria Groove and BaianaSystem, alongside a gastronomy village of over 20 stalls. Organisers expect both to boost regional tourism and the creative economy. Maringá also unveiled the 35th Japanese‑Brazilian Festival (8‑16 Aug), projecting 80 000 visitors for music, traditional dances, cosplay contests and a large food pavilion showcasing Japanese and other ethnic cuisines, with proceeds supporting local cultural and educational institutions. The Saga Jazz Festival concluded on 15 August in Pirenópolis, where Fernanda Abreu performed with the Grooveria Eletroacústica big band, the Igor Gnomo Trio and a “Hermeto Universal” tribute to Hermeto Pascoal; tickets were sold via Sympla. The closing night took place at the historic Casarão Serra do Ouro, framed by the cerrado’s ipê blossoms. Organizer Fausto Valle Jr. said Abreu’s set perfectly synthesized jazz with Brazilian street‑level rhythms. Attendees enjoyed high‑fidelity sound, extensive LED lighting and a dedicated gastronomic area. Earlier, Criolo celebrated his 50‑year career in Chapada dos Veadeiros on 25 July.
