Municipal rabies‑vaccination drives continued expanding in August 2026. On 8 August, Rio de Janeiro’s municipal government launched a free antirabies campaign, operating 125 vaccination posts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. across the Centro, Zona Sul, Ilha do Governador and Grande Tijuca districts. Parallel multivaccination campaigns were reported in other cities. Teresina’s program, running until 1 September, offers free immunisations for children and adolescents under 15, while Maricá and several municipalities are providing the full national vaccine schedule to residents of all ages. These actions reinforce the sustained municipal implementation of Brazil’s national anti‑rabies strategy, extending protection for animal and public health.
