The August festival season in Brazil continues to expand through musical tours, regional celebrations, and large-scale cultural gatherings. In the music sector, Grupo Revelação and Xande de Pilares are conducting the ‘Tava Escrito: O Reencontro Histórico’ national tour through October 2026. In São Paulo, the C6 no Rock festival at Parque Ibirapuera celebrated 1980s Brazilian rock, while the Orquestra Sinfônica Heliópolis performed ‘Sertanejo Sinfônico’. Upcoming highlights include the São Paulo Oktoberfest in September 2026 and a multicultural preview for Rock in Rio. Mid-September programming in São Paulo features the 12th edition of the Coala Festival at the Memorial da América Latina on September 12 and 13. The festival, which includes performers like Maria Bethânia and Emicida, has become a platform for political expression; during her set, Bethânia declared, “Eu voto Lula presidente,” while making the ‘L’ gesture. Similarly, Caetano Veloso expressed support for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during a show in Taguatinga, Brasília, attended by First Lady Janja Lula da Silva. New scheduled events include Matheus Fernandes’ ‘Projeto Anos 2000’ at Vila JK in São Paulo on September 18, featuring Furacão 2000 and MC Koringa. In Ribeirão Preto, the 4th edition of RP Folia is set for September 26 at Estádio Palma Travassos, expected to draw over 7,000 attendees. Looking toward October, the Lagum + Chico Chico tour will perform in Campinas on October 3. In Macapá, the ‘30 Anos sem Renato Russo’ event will take place on October 9, commemorating the anniversary of the Legião Urbana vocalist’s death through music, poetry, and an exhibition titled ‘Um Adeus a Canto’. Despite heavy rainfall, large-scale events have continued. The 5th Itaquá Rodeio Fest in Itaquaquecetuba drew over 45,000 attendees, featuring a performance by Henrique & Juliano. Meanwhile, the 20th edition of the Summer Beats festival at the Interlagos Autodrome saw over 30,000 people attend its opening mass. During the religious ceremony, Bishop Dom José Negri called for political unity, specifically requesting the crowd to repeat the phrase ‘União ao STF’ in reference to tensions involving Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court. Regional and heritage-based events remain significant, including the ‘Chorinho no Aquário’ project in Santos, the launch of Washington Pinheiro’s biography in Fortaleza, and the 5th edition of Caju de Leitores in Bahia.
