Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) is advancing spectrum management and infrastructure oversight. Following a report from the Monitoring Group for the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems in the 3.5 GHz Band (GAISPI), which noted progress in migrating satellite TV from the C-band to the Ku-band, Anatel implemented Ordinance No. 3.207. This regulation aims to reinforce the autonomy of the 3.5 GHz Band Administrator while expanding oversight through an Independent Conformity Verification (VIC) process. Building on these regulatory frameworks, Anatel has launched a 45-day public consultation for a proposed 6 GHz spectrum band auction, targeted for 2028. The draft auction notice introduces new requirements, mandating the construction of digital infrastructure—such as edge data centers and neutral regional cores—in the North, Northeast, and Central-West regions of Brazil under an open-access regime. The proposal includes 700 MHz of spectrum divided into 14 national and regional lots.
