Brazilian athletes achieved significant success during the Grand Prix series held in Paris. The Brazilian national parataekwondo team led the medal standings with six total medals, including two golds, three silvers, and one bronze. Notable performances included Ana Carolina Moura winning gold in the women’s under 65 kg category and Silvana Cardoso securing gold in the under 57 kg category. In the taekwondo competition, world number one Maria Clara Pacheco won the gold medal in the under 57 kg category at the third stage of the 2026 Grand Prix Series. Pacheco defeated Jordan’s Fadia Khirfan in the final with a score of 2-0 (14-3, 16-5) to secure her third consecutive Grand Prix title of 2026, following previous wins in Rome and Muju. This victory completes a perfect season for Pacheco. Her path to the title included defeating Kanelya Carabin, 2024 Olympic silver medalist Nahid Kiyanichandeh, and Mariya Sevostyanova, with all matches won by 2-0 rounds. This performance follows hip surgery Pacheco underwent in February 2026. Adding to the Brazilian success in Paris, Henrique Marques claimed gold in the 80kg category. Marques achieved a comeback victory against Uzbekistan’s Jasurbek Jaysunov; after trailing 9-2 in the first round, he secured a 10-9 win in the final moments of that round before dominating the second to win 2-0. The victory earns Marques 60 points, positioning him to potentially reclaim the lead in the world rankings. Marques, a former world champion, reached the final after defeating Oscar Kovacic (Croatia), Amir Sina Bakhtiati (Iran), and Victor Rodrigues (USA). He is scheduled to compete in the Grand Prix finals in Astana, Kazakhstan, on November 28 and 29.
