In one instance, the Ninth Chamber of the Regional Labor Court of the 3rd Region upheld the dismissal for cause of a worker in Belo Horizonte. The court found the employee acted in bad faith by performing services for another employer while on medical leave for gastroenteritis, using social media posts as evidence of his activity.
Other rulings focused on employer liability for health and privacy violations. The 10th Chamber of the Regional Labor Court of the 3rd Region upheld a conviction against an environmental engineering company for failing to provide adequate water, shade, and rest facilities, which resulted in a worker developing acute renal failure. Additionally, the Superior Labor Court ordered a company to pay R$ 20,000 in moral damages after an employee’s blood was collected without authorization during a medical incident at work, a move the court ruled violated her physical integrity and privacy.
