Brazilian municipal and national cultural initiatives
Various Brazilian municipalities and national bodies are implementing programs to support local artists and expand public access to culture. In Maringá, the Secretariat of Culture (Semuc) announced the ‘Convite às Artes 2026’ initiative, selecting 95 projects across 10 categories. This program involves an investment of R$ 973.2 thousand and represents the largest investment and highest number of contracted projects in the history of the call. In Presidente Prudente, the ‘Rolê Cultural’ project is working to decentralize cultural access through an investment of R$ 100,000, with plans to host 20 activities. Meanwhile, in Itaboraí, the Municipal Guard’s ‘Ronda Musical’ project utilized musical performances to foster community integration and build trust between students and local security services. At the national level, the Brazilian Ministry of Culture has established a final deadline of October 31, 2026, for the submission of cultural projects via the Rouanet Law, stating that no extensions will be granted. To assist regional efforts, the Ministry released a guide for municipal managers to facilitate the application of resources from the National Aldir Blanc Law (PNAB). Other active regional programs include a music festival in Abaré, a museology workshop in São Caetano, and a film diffusion program in Paraíba.
