Brazilian municipalities are intensifying public health efforts to combat the spread of dengue fever. In Itapecerica, a 2026 task force has been launched to coordinate urban cleaning and community mobilization, specifically targeting the elimination of Aedes aegypti mosquito breeding sites by collecting discarded materials like glass and plastic. The city has reported a 95.56% reduction in confirmed cases compared to the previous year, dropping from 4,163 to 183 cases between January and September. To maintain these low infestation rates, Maringá is employing technological tools, including the installation of 1,800 Pneutraps and other larvicide dissemination stations. In the Federal District, authorities are managing broader environmental and weather risks. The Civil Defense has issued alerts for intense rain and wind gusts between 40 km/h and 60 km/h, attributed to the arrival of spring and the El Niño phenomenon. Recent alerts from the Civil Defense cover the capital and administrative regions such as Águas Claras, Ceilândia, and Sobradinho. These warnings, issued for overnight periods through Wednesday mornings, coincide with reports from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) regarding increased cloud cover and atmospheric instability in the Central-West region, which may lead to isolated thunderstorms and hail. Furthermore, environmental surveillance teams in the district are conducting inspections to prevent scorpion accidents, following reports of over 2,800 incidents between January and August.
