2026 Brazilian rock festival season expands

The season, which opened on 11 July with the Circuito Autoral Rock Festival in Taquara, has broadened into a nationwide series of free and ticketed rock events, often paired with other Brazilian genres and community activities. In May and early June a wave of multi‑genre festivals – Sarauzin in Aracaju, Doce Maravilha in Rio de Janeiro, the Bourbon Festival in Paraty and the Ribeira Boêmia tribute in Natal – highlighted rock alongside samba, pagode, jazz and blues, underscoring the country’s musical diversity. June saw a surge of dedicated rock gatherings: the “Rock Brasil” show by Somos Tão Jovens in Ribeirão Preto, a two‑day free festival in Contagem featuring dozens of emerging bands, the third edition of Rock Fest Junino in Varginha, and the Alcatraz Rock concert in Macapá. The second edition of Rock na Ilha on Ilha do Mel (15‑31 May) attracted around a thousand visitors and promoted sustainable tourism, while organizers announced the Best of Blues & Rock festival for November in São Paulo. Major national stages also embraced rock. Rock in Rio scheduled rapper‑singer Celo Dut’s debut band performance for 12 September, and AFROPUNK Brasil will present an international‑Brazilian lineup on 7‑8 November in Salvador. The Atlântida Celebration returned on 4 July in Santa Catarina with a mixed‑genre roster, and Portugal’s Sol da Caparica festival (13‑16 August) and the inaugural Rock & Dão (18‑19 September) reinforced Lusophone connections. Community‑focused events continued in Itaboraí, where a free World Rock Day concert (18 July) was paired with capoeira workshops and a 32‑km bike ride, and in Itabira, the Quintal Kasa Rica (8 August) will blend rock with samba, MPB and sertanejo raiz. In early August, Father’s Day celebrations added a further layer of rock to the season. In August and September the season reached Brazil’s coastal towns.
