Brazilian tennis players have experienced varying levels of success in recent ATP Challenger Tour tournaments across Europe and the United States. In early September, Thiago Wild advanced to the second round in Genoa, Italy, while Gustavo Heide and João Lucas Reis reached the quarterfinals in Tulln, Austria. Heide secured a victory over Germany’s Diego Dedura, and Reis defeated teammate Thiago Monteiro. By mid-September, results became more mixed. Thiago Monteiro achieved a comeback victory against Ukraine’s Vitaliy Sachko in Szczecin, Poland, winning a three-hour, three-set match on clay with scores of 6/7(3), 6/4, and 7/6(3) to reach the quarterfinals. In the United States, Igor Marcondes was eliminated in the opening round of the Tiburon Challenger by second seed Nishesh Basavareddy, while Karue Sell was also defeated in the early stages by Michael Mmoh. More recently, new ATP Challenger events have commenced in Brazil and Portugal. In Curitiba, the ATP Challenger 75 Curitiba 2026 has begun qualifying rounds at the Graciosa Country Club. The tournament features a prize pool of US$ 107,000, with Brazilian Gustavo Heide serving as the top seed alongside Thiago Wild and Felipe Meligeni Alves. Meanwhile, the Eupago Porto Open in Portugal is hosting an ATP Challenger 125 event, featuring Grigor Dimitrov and five players from the world top 100 in the main draw. Building on regional momentum, Curitiba is scheduled to host the Curitiba Open, a WTA 125 category tournament, from October 23 to November 1, 2026, at the Graciosa Country Club. Regarding the ongoing Curitiba Challenger 75 qualifying, Brazilian players have seen success, including Paulo Saraiva, Wilson Leite, and José Pereira. In the Curitiba ATP Challenger opening rounds, top seed Gustavo Heide advanced to the round of 16 following a 6/2, 6/1 victory over Argentina’s Hernan Casanova.
