The Brazilian theatre production “O Figurante” began its rollout in mid‑July 2026, opening in São Paulo and João Pessoa. A fortnight later the show expanded to Brazil’s northeast, with actor Mateus Solano presenting the monologue in Maceió and then in Recife. By late July the production, directed by Miguel Thiré and co‑written by Solano and Isabel Teixeira, had already visited 50 cities across Brazil and Portugal and attracted more than 200,000 spectators. The performances explore the life of a background artist grappling with identity, using a mix of spoken word, mime, and physical theatre. In late July, the production scheduled performances in Recife at Teatro Luiz Mendonça, Parque Dona Lindu, for July 31, August 1, and August 2. The piece follows the character Augusto, an audiovisual professional struggling to find meaning and agency. The work reflects on “the difficulty of connecting with one’s own essence and the challenge of taking control of one’s narrative.” As of late August, the tour continued with scheduled performances in Natal at the Teatro Alberto Maranhão on August 29 and 30.
