In mid‑July 2026 Amazon Prime Video released the first trailer for the Brazilian dystopian action thriller **Corrida dos Bichos**, confirming a streaming debut on 7 August. Directed by Fernando Meirelles, Ernesto Solis and Rodrigo Pesavento, the film imagines a future Rio de Janeiro devastated by an environmental catastrophe that has dried up the sea. A wealthy elite runs a lethal competition – the “Corrida dos Bichos” – based on the traditional Jogo do Bicho, where participants wear animal masks and must offer a loved one as collateral. Matheus Abreu stars as Mano, a peripheral runner who enters the race to rescue his sister Dalva (Thainá Duarte). The ensemble also includes Rodrigo Santoro, Bruno Gagliasso, Isis Valverde, Grazi Massafera and a cameo by singer Anitta. Actors describe the story as a Brazilian‑specific allegory of present‑day social inequality and exploitation. To promote the launch, Prime Video partnered with Epic Games, creating a custom “Corrida dos Bichos” map in Fortnite that lets players experience a simulated race. In early August, Brazilian pop star Anitta released a new rendition of Titãs' classic "Bichos Escrotos" for the film’s soundtrack. Anitta also appears in the film as a narrator and actress, linking her musical contribution to the story’s themes of inequality and violence turned into entertainment.
