In October 2026, South Korean cities Cheonan and Daejeon scheduled major bread festivals to celebrate local bakery culture. The Cheonan festival, held at the Cheonan General Stadium, features 53 local bakeries and international baking programs representing eight countries, including Vietnam, China, and the Philippines. The event includes a bread market, exhibitions, a drone light show, and a farmers' market selling regional specialties like pears and walnuts. Simultaneously, the Daejeon Bread Festival at Expo Science Park features 120 local bakeries. This event includes a ‘Bread Station’ for discounted signature items, a ‘Bread Gallery’, and science-integrated baking classes. To manage the influx of visitors, Daejeon has provided shuttle buses and expanded parking capacity. The ‘2026 Bread Pang Pang Day Cheonan’ festival has since concluded its two-day run. Co-hosted by Cheonan City and the Cheonan Branch of the Korea Baking Association, the event saw approximately 4,872 participants across 800 teams engage in making items such as walnut cakes, mini donuts, and cupcakes. In addition to the bread market and the 1,000-drone light show, the festival included musical performances by local arts groups. To bolster the local economy following the event, a post-festival initiative offers a 10% discount at participating bakeries for visitors who present receipts from the festival.
