On October 6, 2026, police began investigating a fatal incident in the Allerton section of the Bronx after 23-year-old Nathaly Ramirez fell from a 15th-floor balcony. Ramirez died, while her eight-month-old daughter survived the fall but remained in critical condition. Witnesses reported hearing a woman scream, ‘Please don’t do this!’ prior to the incident. Investigators identified Ramirez’s ex-boyfriend, Ángel Carrasco, as a person of interest following reports of a dispute. By October 8, Carrasco was arrested by the Regional Fugitive Task Force and charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, and assault. Police allege that Carrasco pushed both Ramirez and the infant from the Allerville Arms building balcony. Authorities noted a documented history of domestic violence between the two, including previous charges for assault and burglary involving Ramirez. By October 11, the infant, identified as Angel Novalty Carrasco-Ramirez, was reported to be in dire condition at Cohen Children’s Medical Center. Reports indicate the child was in her mother’s arms when the fall occurred. In response to the tragedy, approximately 200 people attended a vigil outside the apartment building. Sponsored by the organization We All Really Matter (WARM), the memorial featured candles and purple and white balloons to honor Ramirez, during which her mother spoke about her daughter’s character and dedication to helping others. Attendees and family members also used the memorial to call for systemic changes to protect victims of domestic violence.
