Kim Taehyung, known professionally as V of the K-pop group BTS, disclosed during a Weverse livestream that he has been experiencing significant hearing loss in his right ear for approximately two and a half years. He reported that while his left ear functions at 100 percent, his right ear only perceives about 30 percent. Taehyung noted that the condition worsened during his mandatory military service in South Korea between 2023 and 2025. He stated that he initially dismissed the symptoms as a “matter of mental strength” due to his environment, but is now receiving regular medical treatment and medication. He also noted previous experiences with tinnitus following concerts. While the specific cause of the hearing loss has not been publicly disclosed, the singer is currently undergoing regular hospital check-ups to manage the condition. This health disclosure occurred as BTS continues their Arirang World Tour following the group’s reunion after completing their military obligations. As the Arirang World Tour progresses, the group is scheduled to perform two shows at Rogers Stadium in Toronto on August 22 and 23, 2026. In anticipation of these performances, local Toronto establishments have announced BTS-inspired food and cocktail offerings.
