Budapest maintains a significant connection to wine culture through its historical infrastructure and modern events. The city features an extensive 120-kilometer underground network of limestone-carved cellars in the Budafok district. Dating back to the 16th century, these tunnels provide the stable temperature and humidity necessary for aging wine. Building on this heritage, the 35th Budapest Wine Festival is scheduled to take place at the Buda Castle Palace from September 9 to 12. This jubilee edition will feature Hungarian wines alongside international selections, specifically highlighting the Americas. The festival will include professional tasting sessions, gastronomic offerings, and interactive activities such as the ‘VinAgora Wine Casino by Taste & Play’. In addition to the Budapest festivities, other regional wine-related events are occurring in Hungary, such as the 14th Wine Terrace festival in Szeged.
