In early August, Bulgarian police carried out a series of coordinated drug enforcement actions across the country. On August 4, officers in the Plovdiv region arrested a prominent dealer in Stoilipinovo and seized cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana. A separate chase near Sopot resulted in the detention of a ~~27‑year‑old~~ 27-year-old with about 1.4 kg of marijuana, and cash valued at roughly 14,500 lev was confiscated. Three days later, on August 7, Sofia’s criminal units conducted two linked operations in the Borovo district. After a ~~high‑speed~~ high-speed pursuit, a suspect known as Ventsi “White Negro” was caught with approximately €460,000 in cash and large quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine and other narcotics. This ruling overturned a previous District Court decision that had allowed the man to be released on 1,000 euro bail. The suspect faces three charges: possession of high-risk narcotics for distribution, obstructing police officers, and the cultivation of cannabis plants.
