Ahead of the October 1 elections for the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), candidate Özer Matlı campaigned on his “Bursa Economy Transformation Plan Vision 2040.” His platform focused on supporting small businesses and SMEs through reduced fees and improved access to finance. During his campaign, Matlı addressed allegations regarding his company’s financial practices, describing them as “pressure, defamation, and manipulative social media posts” intended to undermine his advocacy for small businesses. Following the committee and assembly member elections for the 2026–2030 term, the results showed a split in representation. Matlı’s ‘green list’ won 34 committees and 78 assembly seats, while incumbent İbrahim Burkay’s ‘blue list’ secured 40 committees and 71 assembly seats. Matlı characterized the outcome as a “demand for change” within the local business community. As part of broader organizational elections across Turkey for the 2026–2030 term, the BTSO race remains a key competitive highlight. While Burkay secured more committees, Matlı’s green list emerged with the strongest representation in terms of total committee and assembly seats. Official results from the District Election Board were expected on October 2, with As regional election cycles conclude across various Turkish chambers, the final presidency BTSO presidential election remains scheduled for October 8.
