The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality has announced a strategic transition toward electric vehicles to mitigate rising operational costs driven by fuel price hikes. The municipality has initiated testing with three electric buses and intends to acquire nine more by the end of the year, with plans for 55 additional vehicles in the first half of next year. The long-term objective is to convert the entire bus fleet to electric power, a move expected to reduce transportation costs by one-third. Alongside this transition, the municipality approved a 25 percent increase in public transport fares, affecting ~~bus~~ bus, rail, and ~~rail systems such~~ minibus services, as ~~BursaRay.~~ well as municipal parking lots. Officials cited rising fuel costs and the need for sustainable subsidies as primary drivers for the adjustment. Specifically, BursaRay full tickets rose from 40 to 50 lira, with adjustments also applied to student tickets, monthly passes, and BURPARK parking services. In terms of infrastructure, the municipality completed the Geçit Bridge project, which includes a new bridge over the Nilüfer Stream and 2.5 kilometers of connecting roads to expand lane capacity. ~~The project, which involved road widening and asphalt paving, has been opened to two-way traffic to ease congestion on~~ Additionally, the ~~Mudanya route ahead of~~ municipality is focusing on urban transformation in İnegöl, specifically the ~~new academic term.~~ Turgutalp Neighborhood project, to increase earthquake resilience.
