Chinese automaker BYD has expanded its vehicle lineup with the introduction of the Qin Max and Yuan Up models. In late July, the company announced the upcoming Qin Max sedan, highlighting its second-generation Blade battery capable of rapid charging, and introduced the Yuan Up DM-i plug-in hybrid SUV to the Colombian market. The Yuan Up features a combined range of up to 1,100 km. By mid-August, BYD officially launched the Qin MAX in China, offering both electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (DM-i) versions. The EV model provides a range of up to 630 km and includes an advanced AI cockpit and assisted driving technologies. The DM-i hybrid version features a combined range of 2,370 km and a low fuel consumption rate of 2.59L per 100 km. Further technical details released in mid-August indicate the Qin MAX EV utilizes the ‘DiDi Xia’ AI intelligent cockpit and optional ‘God’s Eye B’ assisted driving with lidar. The vehicle is designed for urban families, featuring a 2,820 mm wheelbase and 27 storage compartments. It also incorporates the YunNian-C intelligent damping body control and the TBC high-speed tire burst stability system. As part of a broader expansion, BYD introduced the Atto 3 Evo, which features an increased 74.8 kWh battery capacity, peak charging speeds of 225 kW, and a shift from front-wheel to rear-wheel drive. The Qin MAX EV is being positioned as a competitor to the Tesla Model 3, with base models in China priced significantly lower than its rival. The new Blade Battery 2.0 technology used in these models enables rapid charging from 10% to 70% in approximately five minutes.
