In late July 2026, BYD refreshed its compact Seal 06 sedan for the 2027 model year, adding a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, a longer body, and higher-output electric motors. The company also expanded its Southeast Asian presence by launching the Atto 2 SUV in the Philippines and the Sealion 7 electric SUV in Malaysia. In the Philippines, BYD holds a 22.3% share of new-vehicle sales, supported by a plan to install 500 charging points by the end of 2026. In early August, BYD announced a four-seat version of its Yangwang U8L luxury SUV, priced above US$179,400, featuring a second-generation Blade battery with 5-minute rapid charging. Additionally, details were released for the large Sealion 08 SUV, which offers up to 796 hp and a LiDAR-based autonomous package. On August 14, BYD opened pre-orders for the Sealion 08 flagship SUV in China, offering both plug-in hybrid (DM-i) and fully electric versions. By mid-August, BYD officially launched the 2027 Seal 06 DM-i in China across six variants, priced between 99,900 and 141,900 yuan. Expanding its global reach, BYD began accepting deposits for the Sealion 5 DM-i in Vietnam and commenced customer deliveries of the Sea Lion 6 DM-i in South Korea. By late August, the BYD Seal U reached a milestone of 20,000 registered units in Spain. In early September, BYD unveiled the Yangwang U8L “Snowcrest edition,” a luxury four-seater EREV SUV featuring a 2.0L turbocharged generator, four electric motors producing 1,180 horsepower, and a 1,000 km combined range. On September 2, BYD officially launched the Sealion 08 flagship SUV in China, priced between 229,900 and 279,900 yuan.
