Infrastructure development in Ca Mau province has expanded from localized compensation for agricultural impacts to massive, high-priority regional connectivity projects. Following previous compensation agreements for irrigation-related rice yield losses in Khanh Binh commune, the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee approved two major road projects totaling nearly 4,867 billion VND. The first, costing over 1,867 billion VND, spans 42.3km and connects National Highway 63, Ring Road 2, Vo Van Kiet, DT984, and U Minh. The second, valued at nearly 3,000 billion VND, covers a 50km route linking Phung Hiep Highway, the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway, and the Song Doc coastal road. These projects utilize approximately 160.67 hectares of land. To further accelerate regional development, the province launched a 75-day emulation campaign to fast-track three urgent transportation projects totaling nearly 100km. These include the Ca Mau-Cai Nuoc expressway, the Cai Nuoc-Dat Mui expressway, and a route to Hon Khoai Island. With a combined investment exceeding 74,000 billion VND, the Hon Khoai Island project is intended to become Vietnam’s longest sea-crossing bridge, supporting maritime logistics and national defense. These major projects have now entered a high-intensity construction phase. Major General Nguyen Huu Ngoc announced a high-intensity emulation period running from October 17 to December 31, targeting a production value of 7,400 billion VND across the three projects. Led by Binh doan 12, construction involves complex tasks such as bored piles at depths exceeding 100 meters. Despite challenges involving difficult terrain harsh weather and material scarcity, construction units high salinity, workers are working maintaining a continuous three-shift, four-team schedule to meet accelerated deadlines. progress goals.
