The second preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup are proceeding, with key fixtures scheduled between October 16 and 18, 2026. In the Confederation Cup, notable matchups include Raja Casablanca of Morocco traveling to Nigeria to face El Kanemi Warriors, and AS FAR Rabat playing FC Korhogo in Côte d'Ivoire. In the Champions League, Madagascar’s CFFA is set to face Tanzania’s Young Africans SC, with both legs scheduled to take place at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es-Salaam. Al Ahly has successfully advanced to the group stage following a 4-0 victory over Uganda’s Kitara FC in the second leg of the Round of 32 at Cairo International Stadium. This result secured a 6-1 aggregate win for the Egyptian side, building on their 2-1 first-leg advantage in Uganda. Hussein El Shahat scored twice, with Mohamed Magdi Afsha and Taher Mohamed Taher each contributing one goal. The victory marks a significant recovery for Al Ahly amidst recent domestic struggles. Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammoute noted that while the team faced challenges, the timing of the opening goal was crucial for maintaining control. Kitara’s continental campaign ended with the defeat. Despite a performance from goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, the Ugandan side conceded two goals in each half under Al Ahly’s offensive pressure. Prior to this match, Al Ahly had faced roster challenges, including the exclusion of Emam Ashour and Mohamed Hany for technical reasons, and medical absences for Yasser Ibrahim, Karim El Debess, and Aktai Abdullah.
