In August 2026, Caixa Econômica Federal initiated the distribution of 13.04 billion reais in FGTS profits to approximately 138 million Brazilian workers. This payout, representing 89% of the 2025 FGTS profit, was intended to raise annual account yields to approximately 6.9%. Regarding its financial performance, the bank reported a recurring net profit of R$ 3.9 billion for the second quarter of 2026, marking a 5.9% increase from the previous year and a 12.4% increase from the first quarter of 2026. This growth was largely driven by the real estate credit segment, which surpassed R$ 1 trillion for the first time, ~~growing~~ reaching a balance of R$ 1.005 trillion. This segment grew 15% annually and ~~accounting~~ accounted for approximately 69.4% of the total portfolio. However, despite the quarterly gains, the bank’s recurring profit for the first half of the year fell 17.6% year-on-year to R$ 7.4 billion. The bank also noted rising delinquency rates. The index for operations overdue by more than 90 days rose to 3.64%, up from 2.66% a year earlier. Notably, the agricultural sector experienced a significant spike in delinquency, reaching 20.74% compared to 7.02% in the second quarter of 2025, though executives stated this growth curve appears to be stabilizing. To manage these risks, the bank increased its provisions for doubtful accounts to R$ 7 billion, a nearly 97.6% increase compared to the previous year. The bank's Basel ratio stood at 15.5% for the quarter.
