In late July 2026, the municipality of Santa Maria del Cedro announced that Italian pop star Giorgia would open the G Summer Tour at the newly built Arena dei Cedri on 3 August, marking the venue’s first major summer opening and a push to raise the region’s cultural profile. A detailed programme for the arena was released, listing a series of concerts throughout August featuring artists such as Luchè, a K-pop and soda-pop showcase, Negramaro, comedian Enrico Brignano, rapper Geolier, and the band Pooh, with a future Claudio Baglioni show slated for 2027. The same announcement also highlighted the parallel development of the Arcella Open Air festival in nearby San Nicola Arcella, which will host Italian acts Aiello, Sal Da Vinci, and Fiorella Mannoia against the Gulf of Policastro backdrop. The opening concert took place on 3 August as scheduled, drawing roughly 2,500 spectators. Organized by De.Do.Eventi under artistic director Alfredo De Luca, the municipality contributed over €200,000 to the event. Local officials, including Mayor Ugo Vetere, praised the smooth execution and lack of traffic disruption, while some social-media users questioned the attendance figures and the use of public funds, prompting a brief debate over the financing of the summer programme. As the season progressed, the festival continued with high-profile acts. On 23 August, rapper Geolier performed as part of the Tirreno Festival, an event co-financed by the Calabria Region Tourism Department. This performance, which included opening acts TigerPlug and FlexTony, set a new attendance record for the Arena dei Cedri with approximately 20,000 fans. In recognition of the turnout, Geolier was presented with the ‘Riconoscimento Arena dei Cedri’ by Mayor Ugo Vetere and Alfredo De Luca. The event significantly impacted local hospitality services in the Riviera dei Cedri.
