In Cameroon, officials marked the 20th anniversary of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office and the launch of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers program. Minister of Economy Alamine Ousmane Mey highlighted over sixty years of technical cooperation between Cameroon and Japan, spanning sectors such as agriculture, education, infrastructure, and natural resource management. Future discussions focused on economic structural transformation and human capital development. Concurrently, Cameroon’s Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze, oversaw the signing of Performance and Objective Contracts between the State and two financial institutions, NFC-Bank and Union Bank of Cameroon (UBC). This action is part of a government-led restructuring process intended to stabilize the national banking system and protect public savings. These efforts have resulted in the restoration of governance organs at UBC and the lifting of provisional administration at NFC-Bank. Expanding on human capital and professional integration, the Cameroonian government, in partnership with the African Development Bank (BAD), has launched the seventh edition of its professional internship program. The initiative is recruiting 93 young graduates for roles across various sectors, including finance, agriculture, engineering, and IT, with the goal of bridging the gap between higher education and professional reality.
