The Campania regional government has implemented several measures to support tourism and local development. In late July 2026, the region approved the proposal for the ‘Cilento e Vallo di Diano’ Destination Management Organization (DMO), which will coordinate 49 municipalities. Additionally, €9.5 million was allocated to various enogastronomic and social inclusion projects. By August 2026, the region expanded its efforts through the ‘Le Stagioni della Campania’ program, running from June 2026 to May 2027. This initiative funds 56 projects designed to promote cultural, natural, and gastronomic tourism by supporting local villages and regional identities. Key allocations include approximately €2.15 million for projects in Irpinia and over €1.5 million for the Sannio area. In the province of Salerno, several municipalities secured funding for festivals and cultural events, with Centola receiving the maximum grant of €200,000, alongside other beneficiaries such as Oliveto Citra, Bellosguardo, and Capaccio Paestum. Despite these approvals, regional councilor Fernando Errico highlighted a funding gap in the Sannio area. Errico reported that six lead municipalities were admitted to the program but did not receive funding because available resources were exhausted, prompting calls for the administration to secure additional financing to ensure these projects can proceed. On August 10, 2026, the region released €10 million for the 56 projects under the ‘Le Stagioni della Campania’ program. However, the announcement triggered political controversy, as mayors from the Lega party demanded greater transparency regarding the evaluation criteria and official minutes. These officials raised concerns about the scoring process, suggesting that certain historical events may have been “unfairly penalized or excluded due to discretionary decision-making.” Separately, the region approved €3 million for the redevelopment of access points and road networks for the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Carolino Aqueduct in Valle di Maddaloni.
