In early August 2026, the Fundação Municipal de Esportes (Funesp) extended the registration deadline for the 46th edition of the Open Games, allowing more teams to enter in several women's and men's disciplines and requiring each participant to donate one kilogram of non‑perishable food. Throughout August, Campo Grande marked its 127th anniversary with a month‑long sports and leisure programme organised by Funesp, featuring a Sub‑20 futsal tournament, rhythmic gymnastics, fitness classes, a community run and the official launch of the 46th Jogos Abertos. The Games, set to begin on 17 August, will include basketball, futsal, handball and volleyball for men and women, with teams from companies, clubs, schools and cooperatives.
