Municipal authorities in Cancun have implemented various administrative and maintenance initiatives to address citizen needs and public health. Initially, the Benito Juárez municipal government launched the ‘Chat Cun’ digital platform, a 24-hour WhatsApp-based service designed to record citizen reports, permit requests, and general inquiries. This move followed protests at an Aguakan water utility service center; in response, Aguakan urged residents to use official channels for complaints to ensure service remains free of political influence. Subsequently, local authorities expanded efforts into physical infrastructure and sanitation. Maintenance crews conducted pothole repairs in Supermanzana 100 to improve road safety, while cleanup operations in Supermanzana 89 focused on removing debris to prevent standing water. These sanitation efforts were followed by thermal fogging by State Health Services (SESA) to control mosquito populations. Recent administrative developments in Benito Juárez include preparations to remodel the ‘Torito’ administrative detention center to improve service quality. Additionally, the municipal SIPINNA has updated its protocols to strengthen the prevention of child labor by incorporating new security and commerce departments into its inter-institutional commission. To manage urban safety, a new committee has been established to address abandoned or deteriorating properties that pose health and safety risks. Infrastructure work continues with Aguakan undertaking a 3 million peso drainage renovation on Avenida Cobá and Avenida Palenque. Ongoing maintenance and mosquito control efforts also persist in Supermanzanas 100 and 89.
