Various ceremonies ~~were~~ have been held across Italy to honor Carabinieri and law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. In early September, commemorations took place in Corleone for Clemente ~~Bovi, who was killed in 1959,~~ Bovi (killed in 1959), Bovalino for Brigadier Antonino ~~Marino, assassinated~~ Marino (assassinated 36 years ~~ago,~~ ago), and in Angri for Brigadier Gioacchino ~~D’Anna, who died~~ D’Anna (died during a 1975 ~~robbery. Laurel wreaths were laid by the Sicilian Regional Assembly and the Municipality of Palermo to honor his memory. Additional local honors include Bassano in ~~Palermo.~~ Teverina, where the city council approved naming an area ‘Largo Salvo D’Acquisto e Caduti dell’Arma dei Carabinieri’, with a plaque unveiling scheduled for September 28. In Porto Torres, a ceremony is set for September 24 to mark the 60th anniversary of the death of Salvatore Cabitta, a member of the Guardia di Finanza killed by terrorists in 1966.
