Law enforcement operations in Brazil have targeted various theft rings involving agricultural products and livestock. In Paraná, a joint operation between the Civil Police of Cândido Mota and the Paraná Civil Police led to the recovery of a stolen soybean oil shipment in Cambé. Two men were arrested for receiving stolen goods. In the Serra Gaúcha region, authorities issued preventive arrests for three men suspected of stealing cattle from rural properties for illegal meat sales between late 2025 and mid-2026. Additionally, in Capivari, the Civil Guard arrested three men caught loading stolen oil into a van and a tanker truck, an operation involving the tampering of security seals. Expanding on investigations in Rio Grande do Sul, the Civil Police launched ‘Operation Apropriare’ to address the disappearance of 2,388 cattle belonging to a 91-year-old producer, with losses estimated to exceed R$ 11 million. While official records indicated a herd of 4,793 animals, a physical count confirmed only 2,405 remained. A former manager who administered the properties between 2016 and 2025 is the primary suspect. Recent operations in Santiago and São Vicente do Sul resulted in the seizure of 400 cattle and a vehicle. The judiciary has also ordered the seizure of a rural property and the freezing of bank accounts and cryptocurrency assets linked to the investigation.
