Cassandre Beaugrand maintained an undefeated season throughout the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS). Following victories in Alghero, Quiberon, London, and Weihai, Beaugrand concluded her campaign at the Grand Final in Pontevedra, Spain. At the Grand Final, Beaugrand secured her second world title with a winning time of 1:50:52, finishing over a minute ahead of second-place Georgia Taylor-Brown. The podium was completed by Kate Waugh in third. This victory marked her fourteenth career win and capped a perfect season in which she won all five WTCS races she entered. Her performance follows her 2024 Olympic gold medal. The race was marked by cycling crashes involving Roksana Slupek, Sophie Evans, and Lisa Tertsch, which impacted the lead group. Other notable performances included Beth Potter, who finished fourth, and Marta Pintanel, the highest-placed Spanish athlete in 12th place. Léonie Périault secured 9th place after a significant recovery during the run, while Maria Tomé finished 20th. In the men’s elite category, Portugal’s Vasco Vilaça claimed the world championship title. Although Vilaça finished second in the Pontevedra race to Australia’s Matthew Hauser following a close sprint, his overall points secured the global crown. Alex Yee completed the men’s podium in third place. Other notable performances in the men’s field included Ricardo Batista, who finished third in the overall championship standings, and Spanish athlete Roberto Sánchez Mantecón, who finished eighth in the race. The event concluded a highly successful 2026 season for Beaugrand, during which she also set multiple French national track and road running records.
