The long-running German crime series ‘Rosenheim-Cops’ is undergoing significant cast changes ahead of its 26th season and upcoming 25th anniversary in early 2027. Actress Marisa Burger, who has portrayed police secretary Miriam Stockl since 2000, is set to depart the series. Her departure will be featured in the episode ‘Es gabat an Abschied’, scheduled to air on November 24, 2026, with an early release available on the ZDF website on November 17. While Burger had previously raised concerns regarding shrinking budgets and compensation, producer Marlis Moosauer stated the changes are driven by “personal and dramaturgical reasons” to create “room for new things.” The character is expected to leave the police station to pursue a new professional path and a romantic relationship, potentially moving to Australia. To maintain continuity, Sarah Thonig will take over the role at the reception as Christin Lange. Thonig, who has appeared in the series since 2015 as a receptionist alongside Marianne Grasegger, will see her character promoted to the position of police secretary this November. In addition to Burger’s departure, Christian K. Schaeffer will leave his role as restaurateur Ignaz ‘Jo’ Caspar, alongside the departure of Isabel Mergl. Schaeffer’s exit also signals the end of the series' long-standing local hangout, the ‘Times Square’ bar. To modernize the setting, the production is introducing a new meeting point called ‘Das Rosi,’ run by character Yasmin Rabe, played by Maya Haddad. Producer Marlis Moosauer also confirmed that Alexander Duda, who has played Police Director Gert Achtziger since 2006, will leave the series. Moosauer described this as a dramaturgical decision to allow the character to retire, noting the character had long surpassed the regular retirement age. While Duda reportedly suggested continuing the character as a pensioner, production leaders declined the proposal to facilitate the series' evolution. The 26th season will consist of 24 new episodes. Streaming is scheduled to begin on September 29, with television broadcasts on ZDF starting October 6.
