The regional government of Castilla-La Mancha has announced the addition of 123 new local police officers across 48 municipalities. These agents will serve a combined population of over 840,000 people, covering roughly 40% of the regional population. The new officers completed the XXXVIII Selective Course for Initial Local Police Training in Toledo, a program involving nearly nine months and 1,700 hours of instruction. This cohort is noted for a record level of female participation, with 31 women representing 25% of the group. Juan Alfonso Ruiz Molina, the regional Minister of Finance, Public Administrations, and Digital Transformation, stated that this addition brings the total number of local police trained in the region over the last three decades to more than 2,200. The current administration aims to have trained approximately 1,000 new officers by the end of the 2027 legislature. Specific municipal updates indicate that new officers have been incorporated in Villacañas, Cuenca, and Alovera. In Ciudad Real, seven new officials have been added, six of whom are joining the newly created Neighborhood Police (Policía de Barrio). In Jaén, three new agents have joined the force, bringing the total to nearly 170, with 16 additional members expected following training.
