The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is executing various components of its federal Land Border Crossing Project, an initiative launched in June 2021 to modernize 24 land border points of entry across Canada. In Rossland, construction began in July 2026 to replace the Patterson Point of Entry with a new facility. This project is part of a $481 million broader initiative and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2028. Local officials have held community meetings to address concerns regarding the construction footprint and its impact on neighboring properties. In September 2026, the CBSA commenced modernization at the Paterson port of entry in British Columbia. An $18.1 million contract was awarded to Greyback Construction Ltd. to provide updated infrastructure, including a new inspection booth for both commercial and passenger vehicles and additional secondary inspection space featuring an enclosed garage. As part of an Indigenous Participation Plan, Greyback has committed to subcontracting at least five per cent of the contract value to a supplier from the Osoyoos Indian Band. Simultaneously, the CBSA has commenced an $11.9 million redevelopment of the Pleasant Camp port of entry in northwestern British Columbia. This project, awarded to Yellowridge Construction Ltd, includes new inspection booths and improved functional space for officers. While the contract extends through June 2029, the CBSA anticipates completion in 2027. The port will remain operational for travelers and commercial services throughout the construction period.
