Cúcuta Deportivo coaching transition and league progress

Following the departure of Richard Páez on August 9, Cúcuta Deportivo appointed Argentine-Italian coach Nicolás Chiesa as their new head coach. Chiesa, who previously served as an assistant for the Ecuador national team, was tasked with the immediate goal of helping the club avoid relegation.

In a significant development during the sixth round of the Liga BetPlay 2026-II, Cúcuta Deportivo secured a 1-0 away victory against Independiente Medellín at the Atanasio Girardot stadium. The decisive goal was scored in the 26th minute by Jaime Peralta, following a cross from Carlos ‘Neneco’ Rentería.
