Saudi Arabia’s national automotive brand, Ceer, has officially launched its first electric vehicle models, the ‘Exobot’ sedan and SUV. Unveiled by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the vehicles feature a wedge-shaped design with gullwing doors, developed by former McLaren design director Rob Melville. The design is reportedly inspired by Saudi culture and the ancient architecture of Hegra, including a lighting signature that commemorates the unification of the Kingdom in 1932. Technical specifications for the Exobot models include an 800V electrical architecture, a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system, and a 112kWh battery. The battery supports fast charging that can reach 80% capacity in approximately 30 minutes. The sedan offers a range of up to 670 km (NEDC) and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds, while the SUV provides a range of 560 km (NEDC) with a 0-62 mph time of 2.9 seconds. Both models feature ‘Shahin Wing’ gullwing doors and advanced interior technology, including a ‘Halo Cooling’ system designed to manage extreme desert temperatures. Ceer is a joint venture between the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Taiwan’s Foxconn. The vehicles are engineered to be manufactured at the Ceer Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic ~~City.~~ City, located within the King Salman Automotive Manufacturing Complex. This initiative supports the Saudi Vision 2030 goal of diversifying the national economy and reducing oil dependency. The company intends to release seven different models over the next five years. By 2034, the project is projected to contribute approximately $8 billion to the national GDP and $21 billion to the trade balance.
