The Central American Torch of Peace, Liberty, and Democracy is traveling through the isthmus to commemorate the 205th anniversary of national independence. The journey began with the torch entering El Salvador from Guatemala via the El Jobo bridge. Following an official handover between education officials, students carried the flame through various Salvadoran communities. The procession continued into Honduras after being handed over by Salvadoran authorities at the El Amatillo border. In Honduras, the torch was transported by students, teachers, and local authorities through several departments, including Valle and Francisco Morazán, with the military tasked with guarding the flame. After passing through the Central District and Tegucigalpa, where it was received by municipal authorities and the Armed Forces, the torch officially entered Nicaragua through the Las Manos border crossing in the Nueva Segovia ~~department.~~ department on September 10. The handover ceremony involved education ministers from both Honduras and Nicaragua, alongside students recognized for academic and athletic excellence.
